A Pair of LAM Concepts...

Post by IAMCLANWOLF »

Just a quick sneak peek at a LAM concept I'm working on.

Still very much a work in progress, but I thought I'd post them now since I'm not sure when I will find the time to finish them.

They both look good, but I think that the legs need streamlining. I also think that the RAC needs a more "add-on" look. Maybe by adding an ammo bin opposite of the RAC, and making the extra JJs, RAC and ammo bin look like they are all one piece.

Na...think more "flying tank" with loads o' guns than your traditional anime transformable mecha.

The RAC has an ammo belt going up to the back and a separate armature just for swinging it down into place/target acquisition.

The legs do look a bit chunky and dont quite compliment the smaller torso, its more the pelvis and waist that need to be made a bit bigger in my opionon which is easily corrected, but its looks like your off to a fine start. :)

Good point here. I would have made the legs more nimble.
IMHO the light version looks much better then the one with the RAC.
LAMs should look slik. Making one a flying tank losses some authenticity of the concept.

Hmmm...I disagree. I mean we are talking about a mech here. "Flying tank" works just fine for the FR A-10 and others throughout history designed to be flying brick-walls. Look at the B-25G/H/J for another great example.

The idea is mech first - rough, durable and above all ready to lay down some serious firepower. ASF second - more as a quick response unit than something crazy maneuverable for dog-fighting (which is outdated anyway). Form follows function, so with durability in mind, your primary concern wouldn't be to make something that looks "slick."

Now, that's not to say that you couldn't make a slick lightweight, highly maneuverable, though lightly armed, and armored LAM. It's just not what I have in mind for this concept...
