Got a little nostalgic when I should have been studying for exams. Googled some battletech to see what was going on with the world at the moment. Checked the Wikipedia battletech page cause they're always known for having a good collection of official and unofficial links for their topics. Checked out several of them, saw that this one had an active community and went with it.

Haven't played in at least 7 years. Stopped reading the books around the time of Operation Bulldog. Pretty much getting myself up to date at the moment.

Where I found it, surprisingly enough, was a link from the CBT website, IIRC. I was looking for things at the time, scenarios, other Mechs I could put into my own PBEM campaign as 'specialty' Mechs and other ideas that might have been useful. I followed the link, and lurked here for a couple of weeks before I decided to join. Quite the place you've got here, I have to admit. Keep up the good work!

Yea. I've got a my little CBT community microcosm going on over at RedvsBlue. So far you seem to be the only one who's shown any interest in this site.

New to BTU

Post by Rollingdrafter » Wed May 31, 2006 10:19 am

I'm new to this site. Found it by just doing a web search looking for Battletech downloads. I'm a big fan of Battletech and Shadowrun, but had no idea that FASA had gone under. So I went looking for new Battletech info. SO here I am and glad to be here.

I did a web search for "battletech" and found cbt. Then, after wandering around on that site I found a link to BTU.

New to BTU, but not to the game

Post by MechRat » Thu Jun 01, 2006 11:02 am

I found this site through ArgentFire which I found through a link on Solaris7, where I am a member (same username). I haven't had much time to browse here, but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. I've played BT for about 23 years, but have been relatively inactive for the part 12 years, as reality intruded. I have been keeping up intermittently through the TROs and Field Manuals (Crusader Clans, Mercenaries, & Draconis Combine). I'm still lost on everything that happened after the Clan invasion, I think it was in 3050, right?
I have many designs and ideas to post, and when I get my ducks in a row, I will. Unfortunately, life tends to get in the way...
Right now I've signed up with BattleMagic, as I like what they do. It probably hasn't shown up yet. I find modifying and creating new designs relaxing. I have my own mercenary unit, which does something very similar. It was created many, many years before, but I don't have any files or images to upload right now.
It may not matter, but my username relates to "hangar rat", a term used to describe kids who hang around the Mech hangars talking with the Techs and MechWarriors. A great way to learn how to repair and pilot Mechs...

Hello all,
There will be a director of admissions along shortly to give you the heads up.
Take care, have fun and don't drink to much.

Faction rankings

Post by MechRat » Thu Jun 01, 2006 11:22 am

Thanks for the heads up!
Is there any way to see the ranking system for my faction or any other faction? I'd like to know how many posts I need to get to the next rank.

Simple... click on the 'Join a Faction' link at the top of the page, the mercenaries link and the Battle Magic icon. There's a brief write up on the unit and beneath that is the rankings and posts needed for them.

Thanks. It looks like I'm going to be a Technician for quite a while... Oh well, life could be worse. :|

Welcome, MechRat! I, too, am fascinated with the technical aspects of CBT. I am currently building an
Overlord dropship in 1/218 scale. Stay tuned; I will be posting pics. This is a really great site.

Did a search for CBT fiction. Was looking for something to read since there is no new CBT in print (Battlecorps excluded). Been hanging around here for several months and just now decided to join up.
