I thought you had already answered that by saying you had put it in boiling water? :?

Me, uhm... maybe cut apart and slice between fingers with an ultra fine scalpel blade saw that you can get from people like Micro Mark? Failing that cut off the fingers, drill for wire and sculpt new one's perhaps?

On balance, heating up the casting sounds like the first course of action, and only if that didn't work would I go to plan B.

Or have I missed something?

Perhaps you mean how to open up the closed fist, yes?
