They look to be twice the size of a hounddog and half the size of a taditional mech?

So, how big is a Protomech supposed to be?

Supposedly, they fill the gap between powered armor and the lightest scout mech. Say, about 10 tons?

I wasn't aware that the IS had protomechs mind you i am so far behind with current Battletech technology related affairs... Nice score on those micro scale VOTOM's Ash i didn't know that they made kits that small of them, they would be great if used as power armour in a 15mm Sci-fi game such as Gruntz or Tomorrows War which is taking up most of my spare time at the moment.

In the VOTOMS universe they represent units that weigh around seven tons, so maybe they would make good Protomechs for BattleTech. I just hate the look that was taken with Protomechs that I have shunned them.

I too have been looking at games other than BattleTech, and Gruntz is a contender, as is Heavy Gear, as I'm too aware of the limitations of BattleTech as it stands.

It's great that the BattleTech rules haven't changed in 28 years, but the problem is that the rules have a sweet spot in terms of game size and what can be managed in two to three hours of play. I want more than this to be able to play bigger games.

I had them done:

Then I went back and painted the three colour lenses on each of them.

I would too, but I already have two platoons of green painted battle armour, so these are going to be used with OGRE/GEV as mechs.

OTOH my 10mm VOTOMS, which have yet to be finished will make excellent Protomechs, which is what I will use them as.

Okay, kicking this thread back into life, with a promise to be more diligent about updating it made.

The third part on ground and time scale musings with links to the two previous posts within.

http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... rrain.html

An update on designing vehicles for my Mummerset campaign.

http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... erday.html

There will be more about this in due course, and I'll make the designs available when I get around to it.

A fun questionnaire for you all to compare your answers to.

A contribution to the discussion about infantry in BattleTech by one of my players, who by his own admission is not really a BattleTecher.

http://panther6actual.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... -view.html

And some reflections by me on running my Mummerset campaign.

Leave comments here, on this thread, or there on the blog. I don't mind, but it would be nice to see more comments here as the board has been a bit quiet of late.

I hope you all enjoy.
