Greetings Mechwarriors.

I live. Really.
And I apologize for not having visited for 2.5 months.
but it was nice to come back to some activity...
SPECK updated the server and the backend.
DART is still writing and imagining fantastic fan fiction.
MARAUDER brought us news about the MechGrounds website.
and LAWGIVER...
LAWGIVER! made an appearance to shill his selling off those Locust Dropships he has had forever.
I have reached out to THECIRCUS via 3rd party contacts, but have heard naught.

So what is happening to my life?
My tabletop gaming has been limited to a rousing few hours with the Richmond lads (I guess I are one now) while attending RavenCon 2019.
Just a reminder that the game is still a BLAST and I miss gaming with my friends.
and well lately????

Today I left my job with the DLA. The contracts had changed radically and the money and commute argued against staying.
Monday, I'll be returning to a position for the Navy. Much better $$$ and half the commute.

So far in May, I've attended the HS graduation of one of my nieces,
attended the University graduation of Son&Heir's fiance. (yep.. fiance'. the KID has grown!)
and witnessed my Princess be awarded top academic honors for the 3rd year running. 4.25 GPA, baby.

so. ya know, life moves on.

I would post pictures from RavenCon and other mentioned events, but Photobucket is being a PAIN. Again.

Everyone is invited to follow the link in my sig to make comments.
I really enjoy hearing from y'all.

In the meantime... Play a game. Paint something.
but seriously....
Stay Safe Out There.

*Ronin OUT*

I'm hoping with the shorter commute, I may have time to paint this summer.

Hello Reader.

I exist. I miss my friends, and like everyone else, LIFE is running me ragged.
Have I had time to paint this summer?
ha. lol.
I've barely had time to change underwear and feed the cats.
In the past two weeks, I've been to the US Naval Academy at Annapolis; Allentown, PA; Philadelphia, and Camden, NJ.
And that is just for the fun stuff, so I can see my daughter perform.

*shameless plug*
https://www.dci.org/events/2019-dci-wor ... ip-prelims
Cheer for the JERSEY SURF.

As for work... well the new job is a vast departure from the old one, and I'm still re-learning the ropes.
but the pay is good, and technically, I'm able to arrive and depart during daylight hours.
no more 12-16 hour days.
but my beautiful wife is working on her Master's degree Full Time to get her NP.
so I have to bring in all the bacon I can find.
yep.
even less time for BattleTech.

I have seen that CGL has FINALLY gotten off their collective arses to produce a new Clan Invasion box set for Kickstarter.
About time.... they're only 18 - 20 months late getting off the blocks.

Now we just need IWM to run a Kickstarter.
"Turn Iron Wind Metals into Iron Wind Miniatures!"
they need to obtain the means to manufacture resin/plastic miniatures.
... instead of forcing all that commerce to the Chinese.

anyhow... if wishes were horses.. we'd be living MLP.

I do hope all y'all are having an awesome summer.
Please DO take advantage of the renewed interest in tabletop BattleTech.
A lot of new players out there, looking for a few good Vets to show them the ropes.
Paint something.
Post it HERE first. Then post it all over social media. Reddit has a thriving subforum.
but most of all.

Stay Safe Out There.

Greetings Player One!

(just rewatched Tron ... sorry)

Hello All.
I'm still around.
apparently GRUD is too.
so is RavionHawk ... at least on LinkedIN.
I saw Lawgiver post some stuff recently, but he never answered me back.
as for 'thecircus' ... not a peep from him, even when I reach out via OFFICIAL channels.
Paint it Pink (Ashley) is still posting... she's doing her summertime thing of Archery.
which admittedly, I'm sorta into as well. In a backyard, I know enough to be a danger to myself, Into it.

and so, so many more that havent popped in for the longest time.

Miss You Guys/Gals.

Check me out on REDDIT, if you dare. I'm usually following the r/BattleTech and r/BattleTechgame threads.

In the meantime;
take care of yourself.
paint something and post it.

Stay Safe Out There.

Hello Friends.

Somedays; Life is a grind.
Mostly, I work, come home, mow the yard and eat dinner.
Sometimes, I'll watch some youtube and am usually in bed by 2300.
Correction: MOST days, life is a grind.

Son & Heir is in KY, actually taking time to play some BT at home.
Apparently, he's gotten both his Fiance', and his Eldest cousin, interested in TT play.
It seems that the ladies like to knock his Mech down and kick him to pieces.
>> aforementioned S&H, myself, and the Eldest cousin; a very long time ago. <<
Image

I purchased the full Box set of AGOAC early this year. Last week, I bought the beginner set.
Just so I have all the newest sculpts, don'tya know.

but Life moseys along.
and I miss my friends from this site.

Oddly enough, I did have a flash of the old muse yesterday.
While browsing thru Hobby Lobby, I saw their collection of pre-carved woodworking bits.
It seemed like a simple model project: a CATAPULT BattleMech miniature, made of wooden bits.
I was very tempted.
I still am.
But I've got to make room in my workspace before I take up yet ANOTHER project.

...but the Muse was there.
and that is important to ME.

So: Paint something. Play a game.
Stay Safe Out There.

Hello All.

Greetings.
and hello to ... me?
*static*
(Hello? Anyone reading me out there?)
https://youtu.be/fo0G59aygu8?t=10

I'm still here.
Even got to play some BT during the family Thanksgiving with Son&Heir and My Princess.
Nobody got destroyed, everyone took heavy damage and all had a good time.
>>> https://www.reddit.com/r/battletech/com ... _get_both/ <<<

...and then a week later, my company loses the subcontract for my job.
Instant Un Employment.
Right at the beginning of the holidays.
FML.
...so sometimes, the Rock rolls back on ya.

The only response I know is to hit back twice as hard.
the monday after contract end, I had 5 job contacts and 14 applications filled.
and I've submitted for unemployment insurance.
Tomorrow: Tuesday the 10th, I have 1 in-person interview, and 2 FaceTime interviews scheduled.

As my Grandpa once said: "You're only as beaten as you allow yourself to be."

I've even painted this past week. Yes, it was lawn decor ... but still.
Get out and paint something yourself.
Game on.
and Stay Safe Out There.

Hello 'Mech Combat Fans!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY HANUKKAH!
ETC.

AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

and Yes. I'm still UNemployed.

Absolute Worst time of the year to be job searching. :(

but this is what a Savings Account and Unemployment Insurance is for...

Luckily, I had 90% funded my Christmas fund, so everyone gets something.

So despite my personal **** storm....

Everyone is fed, happy & warm in my home.

I'm wishing the Very Best for all y'all this Season.

So paint something.

Take time to game.

And stay safe out there!

Greetings Readers...

Happy (belated) New Year.

I hope your 2020 is full of good fortune & happy times.

Mine has been interesting so far....

I started the year unemployed; as of the 21st, I am now employed. :thumleft:

I'm working for the Army (again) ... if you need more details, check me out on LinkedIN. (y'all know me ... look me up)

Great money, :D decent benefits, :) SUCKtacular commute.

90 minutes to 2.25 hours each way.

so hobby time during the week is GREATLY curtailed: weekends FTW!

On a different train of thought, my Princess is prepping to apply for college financial assistance.

(now I need a PayPal Tip Jar)

Tonight, I had a chance to inspect a copy of her official HS transcript: now, I know she's uber smart and gets good grades.

But tonight I learned that during her HS career, she has only had 2 B's. ALL A's for all her other classes: 34 of 'em. :thumleft:

Now, I'll admit: modern GPAs make no sense to me: how does one EXCEED a scale of 1 -> 4?

but I understand this: she is #13 in her class of 264, and highest ranked non-Governer's School student.

While I'm VERY PROUD of my Son&Heir, my Princess just ASTOUNDS me.

best of all: she plays BattleTech with us.

So y'all: Paint something. Play a game!

Most of all:

Stay Safe Out There.

Hello Readers...

thank you for checking in on me.
Yes, I'm still alive: the 'Rona aint got me.
I am lucky: I've been teleworking and pulling a paycheck for the past several weeks.
...and you'd think with all my "free time" I'd a gotten more painting or something done.
well, I've gotten more "something" done.
it just aint painting.
sorry.

I have had the opportunity to do an inventory of my collection.
I'm seriously looking to move before the year end.
To that end, I'm slowly packing up & storing my non-essentials.
Holy !@#$%&*!, I've got a Huge collection of Mecha: to include
BattleTech and RoboTech and CAV and misc. sci-fi armor.

I have noticed a growing BattleTech community in the REDDIT forums.
https://www.reddit.com/r/battletech/
IF you do happen to post there, PLEASE, PLEASE do post up here as well!!
But it is great to see new fans enjoying the hobby. :thumleft:
...and yes, I had to flex a little bit - some of these have actually been seen on these hallowed pages.

Image

...pssst: don't spill my secrets....
https://www.reddit.com/r/battletech/com ... any_sword/

So there you have it: a brief synopsis of my past month.
Please: paint something.
And STAY SAFE OUT THERE.
We're all in this together.

Hello Readers.

I have been painting.

Yes, an actual BattleTech mini.

It is for the 2020 mini exchange over at LotB.

I admit. I'm freaking rusty. And the eyes are going fast.

But: here is a teaser.

https://m.imgur.com/gallery/uRfWXg8

I will post up the complete mini once my client has received his mini.

Until then.

Paint something. Play a game with someone.

Most of all: Stay Safe Out There.

Cause I'm on Your side, and I'm rootin' for ya.

Hello Friends.

I am well and do not have the "Coof".
I am back to my 2 hour commute and am required in the office once again. :(
I have successfully achieved Life Level 46 on this ball of clay.
And am still slowly packing up the current house for movement to new lodgings once the banks decide to close on our deal.
still just living the life that has been bestowed upon me.

excited to watch my kiddos: Son&Heir and Princess as they start their adventures in life.
Son&Heir may be eloping soon.
and Princess is due to move into college in August.
stay tuned here.... I probably won't be able to keep quiet.

I'm seeing more miniatures posted on Reddit and IG... our community is alive and growing.
I have noticed that LotB has gone dark... ANYONE know something about THAT?
I've been told & understand that our home here at BTU.org is safe... and I'm chipping in $ every month to help with the hosting fees.
PM me if you want to help and I'll provide you the contact info.

So y'all: nothing fancy, but good news in general.
Paint something. Post it here ... and everywhere else.
Most of all: Stay Safe Out There.

Greetings my Friends!

I hope my American brethern had themselves a safe & enjoyable Independence Day.
Mine was fairly quiet: even our neighborhood fireworks fiend only shot off about a dozen rockets.

FYI: it is now official and legal. Son&Heir is MARRIED. They tied the knot on July 10th.
Yes, I have pictures. No, I can't post them under threat of broken fingers.
but then, I can't tell you to not check out *redacted* on IG.

Anyway, to get around the blackmail that is photoscumbucket now, I am posting some pix on IMGUR and INSTAGRAM myself.
If you want to see them, PM me, I'll send you the link.

As for myself: well, just this Friday, I handed over $14000 to a very nice man who didn't give me any metal miniatures.
He just gave me some nice new keys for a nice new house.
2100 sq. feet, single story, all on 10.5 acres. Nice and remote.
Moving to new digs has commenced.

I've noticed that LotB has not returned to the land of the living. :(
They had been doing better than us, with a more active member group.
Even our admin, SPECK, has no idea what has happened there.
I had even participated in a miniature swap with those fine fellows.
So, since LotB is down, here is a link to the IMGUR gallery of my first mini of 2020.

Hello Readers.

I have been quite busy.

I have even painted.

Given, it was a wall, and not a Mech.

My move is in progress.

A pickup truck worth daily-ish.

I really do have too much SH-tuff.

So please: Stay Safe & Healthy Out There.

I miss you guys.

Hello Readers.

I'm buying quality intoxicants for anyone willing to show up and help me move sh-tuff.

Ditto for helping me repaint this place.

And I'll even give you a Mech if you can help me put some of this !@#&%*#@! Ikea furniture together.

plus, the grass is knee high at both houses ... and of course it is raining this weekend.

please?

Stay Safe.
